The City of Puyallup is situated just a few miles east of Tacoma Washington and approximately 35 miles south of Seattle. Early in its history and until just a few years ago Puyallup was primarily agricultural community, growing berries, flowers and vegetables. Coming out of this agricultural heritage was the Western Washington Fair, AKA Puyallup Fair. The Puyallup Fair is now one of the 10 biggest fairs in the United States with just under 2 million visitors each year. But over the last 20 years Puyallup has evolved into a bedroom community for the larger cities of Tacoma and Seattle. With its outstanding reputation for excellent schools, quality of life and affordable real estate, Puyallup continues to steadily grow from an agricultural community into a small prominent city.
Puyallup is rich in tradition and history and is one of the oldest cities in Washington State. Along with the Puyallup Fair, Puyallup has other attractions and events such as the Daffodil Festival and parade, Farmers Market every weekend during the spring and summer months and a large contingent of Antique shops in its downtown core. All of these events consistently bring visitors and residents together to make Puyallup a strong diversified community.
Puyallup is centrally located to all major recreational and cultural activities offered in the region. These include the Cascade Mountains and Mount Rainier National Park, the Puget Sound and the Cities of Seattle and Tacoma. The mild climate of this Puget Sound region makes it easy for residents of Puyallup and surrounding communities to enjoy all these activities on a year around basis.
